Dr. Shrinivas Gondhalekar
Popularly known as Dr. G, he is a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from internationally reputed IIT Bombay with Post Graduation in Industrial Engineering from the prestigious NITIE. He later completed his Ph D from IIT Bombay in the subject of KAIZEN for Productivity Management.
His career began in Godrej Soaps where he spent over fifteen years in various capacities.
In 1995, Dr.G took to consulting to enable organizations move towards perfection by deploying various aspects of Japanese Management secrets.
He formed KIAP in the year 2006 and is now a much sought after expert both in India and across the globe. He has done consultancy in 22 countries including the USA, Western Europe, South East Asia, Australia, Africa, China and Brazil, apart from India.
He has been trained in Quality Management in Japan through AOTS (Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship) and in ‘Management Consultancy for Productivity Improvement’ by the APO (Asian Productivity Organization).
He is a passionate teacher, and is currently Dean (Operations) at Wellingkar Institute of Management Research, Mumbai. In this capacity, he also organizes and leads study tours to world-class companies in Japan, including Toyota, to enable the students and professionals to develop word-class paradigms.
He has to his credit a host of published papers in international journals and in popular media in India. His significant contribution towards perfection in quality is a book titled “Chronicles of a Quality Detective” – an easy to read collection of his own cases of application of “Differential Diagnosis”, the tool developed by him to crack intractable Quality problems.
S. Dorai Rajan
S. Dorai Rajan, is an acknowledged authority in Lean Management and an experienced Cost & Management Expert. He is an Associate Member of Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
With over 22 years of industrial experience at various levels in different industries viz. Coal, Steel, Paper, Tea and Light Engineering, he has equal prowess in manufacturing and non-manufacturing processes supported by the managerial experience gained out of his 2 decades of industrial experience.
He began consulting in 1994; initially focusing on activity based costing and cost management. He has authored the HAND BOOK ON ACTIVITY BASED COSTING, published by the INSTITUTE OF COST ACCOUNTANTS OF INDIA, the statutory body in India for promoting the cost management education in India. His experience during this phase gave him the realization that “No amount of Cost Accounting can help to Reduce Cost” and the only way to reduce cost is by minimizing the waste in the process at the Gemba which led to the adoption of Continual Improvement – Kaizen as is his mantra for his consulting. Subsequently, he headed the Asia Pacific Operations of Kaizen Institute Ltd., of Sensei Masaaki Imai – the Kaizen Guru between 2000 and 2005.
With the formation of KIAP in 2006, his focus has been being on instilling passion for perfection in organizations through powerful Workshops developed by adapting the ancient wisdom of India and Management concepts of Japan and West – thus leading the Organizations to Lean Status. He strongly believes that continual improvement in the performance of activities and processes doing only what is barely needed is the only way for moving towards Perfection – KANZEN.
He does not work with competing companies in same industry – a belief which has endeared him to all his clients leading to deep and long relationship with them. He has a passion to look for different industry and sectors for deploying the Lean and Kaizen principles and has rich experience in all sectors and industries.
He has orchestrated and driven major initiatives in large organisations of pan-Indian presence – driving the initiative in multi-locations in different regions. In addition to the traditional manufacturing industries, the spectrum of his work so far includes non-traditional industries such as improvement of service quality in a prestigious 5 Star Hotel Chain, reduction of construction time by 60% in a prestigious luxury apartment project, improvement of productivity in farming activity – from cleaning of land to planting saplings in 100 acres of land. His international clientele are spread across West Asia, South East Asia, Canada and US including prestigious assignments with the Governments of Bahrain, Malaysia and Mauritius.
Ganesh Mahadevan is a graduate in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT – Mumbai and an MBA in Operations from NITT. He began his career in Hindalco working on the shop floor in production and quality assurance functions.
During the seven years he spent in the aluminium industry, he became an expert in sheet metal casting and processing for critical product applications like foil and lithographic sheets.
His exposure to consulting began with a stint in Deloitte, where he did process improvement assignments across paper, electronics, abrasives, infrastructure and garment industries. He has been trained and is certified in “Consulting Skills” and the “Business Process Redesign” and “Activity Based Costing” proprietary methodologies of Deloitte.
With his passion for implementation and shop floor orientation, he joined KIAP in 2007 and has led multiple lean implementations using the powerful focused improvement workshop model which involves changing the mindset of people in a short period of time. He specializes in Flow Manufacturing and Zero Defect concepts to increase productivity, improve quality, enhance delivery performance and cut costs in industries as varied as pharmaceutical, ITES and prawn feeds.
He has developed an implementation model for SMEs working on the cluster concept having deployed this in a pharma mini cluster under GTZ (German Government)-SIDBI scheme as well as in the Light Engineering and General Engineering clusters under GOIs NMCP program.
He is also involved in spreading awareness on kaizen and lean amongst students through taking courses on invitation at institutions like ISB, IFMR and VJIM.
Satish is a Mechanical Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and a Six Sigma Black Belt Certified by the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore.
He has industrial experience of 35 years in various functions like Manufacturing, Maintenance, Marketing and Human Resources in large companies like Glaxo Smithkline and Thermax.
While working in Thermax he was associated with ERP selection and implementation. He was also actively leading business improvement initiatives at corporate level as a part of the strategic business planning cell.
He has been actively associated with developing learning resources, specifically using instructional design principles and has set up a complete learning management system in a multinational company.
Working with KIAP since 2006, he is actively involved in implementing Toyota Production System (Lean Manufacturing Practice) at various manufacturing units in India and abroad. He has visited Japan to study prevalent practices in manufacturing units of Toyota, Denso, Nippon Steel and several medium scale units. He has been able to successfully deploy this learning in the Indian context especially concepts like 5S and TPM to help organizations sustain the improvements made in the long run.
A regular faculty for Management Development Programs conducted in-house for Thermax group of companies, teaching TQM and Planning techniques, he teaches regularly at the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune.
